I came in around midday to look at buying a bicycle. I was approached within a few minutes, and was greeted well by the French/Belgium gentleman. He showed me their range of E bikes along with the different types and styles. We got a bike picked out and was tuned in store, ready to ride. He went through Helmets, gave good lock recommendations and didn't push any upselling I didn't want. I have forgotten his name, but he is really knowledgeable, a great salesman, will return for more accessories and bike service in the future.
Absolutely terrible customer service. Took three kids in to a bike shop a week before Christmas, at least 3 staff standing out the front behind the counter, not one of them busy but all talking amongst themselves. After ten minutes in store I had to approach staff to get assistance. Have bought bikes from here before. Pricing was okay, nothing special, service was extremely poor then too.
Had my sons bike serviced here. Came back with clicking noises from chain and pedals, and flat tyres.
Can't get in touch with the owner to discuss. Hopeless.
Wonderful service. Friendly helpful staff went out of their way to change things on my new bike to accommodate my disability. It’s the 2nd bike l have purchased from the store. Thanks so much.
Visited to purchase a BMX for my son as I have purchased many road bikes in the past when service and advice was the focus.
Without any assistance I found a bike to purchase. This bike was $100 cheaper everywhere else (20%), I asked if they would price match they said they won’t do it. So I immediately purchased elsewhere.
They seem short staffed on the weekend too as there was virtually no one to assist. I recommend do your research based on the take it or leave it approach that has been adopted, as they seem not to care at all. They used to be much better it’s so unfortunate.
Visited on the weekend. Attitude and arrogance around pricing “we don’t need to price match” was extremely poor. Especially as it was only on one item when looking to purchase many more at full price. Had a much better experience at 99 bikes and spent even more due to a focus on customer service instead of sales. Business policies aside there is a way to speak to people and that was not it.
If buying an E-bike, ask plenty of questions, especially about rear cassette , wear and tear on chain…………..I bought an XDS E- mountain bike, after 4 months of riding have had to change these items already, which are not covered under warranty, which I’m not happy about……….i was told that these have to be replaced every 6 months, by Bike mechanic at Hallam, Shimano have just released a new gearing system for E-bikes called CUES , which means upgrading at additional cost……
I recently purchased a 12 inch GT for my grandson, we initially had a problem with a tight spot in the chain and my grandson was having trouble pedaling, after visiting the store we were contacted by the store owner Ken who couldn’t be more helpful and wanted to be sure the problem is resolved.
Thanks so much Ken for great after service.
Have been in multiple times the past few weeks looking for a particular product.... absolute ZERO customer service. Never acknowledged, despite there being 4-5 staff on shop floor. One, perhaps two, were "doing something". Will never go back again, despite me being local.
Good luck Ivanhoe Cycles, Hallam with your "service", your business model must still be enough to pay your staff & associated overheads.
